Service Details
Description:
The Overnight Stay Program is a service integrated into the Community Alzheimer Program, offering planned, short stay respite intended for; caregiver respite, the frail elderly, and persons living with cognitive impairment.
This program is not suitable for;
- post operative individuals
- individuals requiring 2 person transfer assist
-individuals requiring 1:1 support
Stays are 7 days in length minimum (admissions and discharges are Tuesdays & Thursdays only).
Currently, ONS is approximately 6+ months.

Eligibility Criteria
Criteria:
- All medications must be blister packed.
- Able to provide an emergency contact who is able to pick up the participant from the program within 45 minutes of a call, if the need arises (ie. participant becomes ill or cannot be safely supported in the program).
- Physically and behaviourally stable and does not require 1:1 ongoing support from staff.
- Be able to independently feed themselves.
- Able to transfer and receive care with a maximum 1 person assist (unable to support the use of transfer boards).
- Aware that SJHCG is a smoke free facility, and that smoking cannot be supported while in the day program.
