Description:

Provides transportation via volunteer's personal vehicle to and from medical appointments or assists with local grocery shopping.



Clients must be registered in advance to request drives. All drive requests must be provided with at least one (1) week notice.

There is a reasonable fee for this service, based on destination/mileage. Please inquire for fee schedule as fees may change.
Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Age: 55 yrs
Criteria:
Seniors 55+ who do not drive or have access to a vehicle or who may not qualify for DARTS. May also have a disability that prohibits them from driving independently. Clients must be over 55 years, be considered independently mobile and cognitively sound (i.e. must not have a cognitive impairment such as dementia).

Clients may use/bring a cane or a light, collapsible walker which can be easily stored in the volunteer's trunk. Unfortunately, wheelchairs and scooters cannot be accommodated.

Client is able to have a care assistant or companion attend the drive with them (no additional fee). This is a Door-to-Door service only and volunteers do not attend the appointment with client. Clients who require transportation to/from local grocery shopping and may benefit from assistance by a volunteer with shopping.
