Volunteers provide emotional and practical support to individuals living with a palliative life limiting illness and their families. Services can be delivered at home, in hospital, retirement homes, LTC facilities and within our hospice: the Cook Family Residence.
A volunteer can help:
- Assist with everyday tasks (i.e. grocery shopping, letter writing)
- Transportation to medical appointments
- Provide emotional support
- Be a compassionate presence and listener
- Be supportive to family members
When you contact us, a staff member will arrange to meet with you and/or your loved one to discuss the type of volunteer that will best suit your needs and schedule.
All our volunteers are fully screened and have participated in +35 hours of Hospice training before being matched one-on-one.
