The Day Hospital Program provides group treatment for Adults aged 18 and over who have experienced significant psychiatric difficulties and related disruptions in their social, occupational and family relationships. The program is voluntary and time-limited. Priority is given to those transitioning from the Inpatient Mental Health Program or who have recently received treatment from their Psychiatrist or the Crisis Team. A specialized team provides treatment in a group setting and explore themes such as coping with anxiety and depression, stress management, communication, self-esteem and relationship issues. Discharge planning focuses on preventing relapse and maintaining gains. Appropriate clients will progress into the next phase of treatment, The LHAP Day Treatment Program, for continuity and ongoing support. Referrals to community services are made. *Referrals can be made by a psychiatrist or physician in the community who has clients that may benefit from support and psychoeducation. Day Hospital Program Groups run daily - Monday to Friday for 3 weeks. The expected time commitment for clients is 12-15 hours per week. The expectation is that clients attend all groups. Clients who are unable to attend a group due to illness or an appointment must call in to inform clinician of absence. The program is on a continuous rotation. Groups missed cannot be made up, but topic handouts from groups are provided when requested.
