"The program follows an approach based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT). The group is composed of 8-10 participants and the 2 therapists (a psychiatrist, a psychotherapist, a registered nurse and an occupational therapist).
This group therapy meets on a daily basis for 8 weeks. Group sessions begin at 10 a.m. and last 2-4 hours per day. Participants are assigned a therapist, which they follow on a weekly basis, 1 hours per week for the duration of the program.
Goal of the program is to increase the level of a client's functioning, links with the community, general knowledge of everything that affects mental health, and develop skills to better manage it (including knowledge of crisis management strategies)."
- Have a primary diagnosis of a mood disorder, such as depression or an anxiety disorder, and whose symptoms are severe enough to prevent them from doing activities that are important to them
- Motivated to participate
- Completed referral form from primary care provider
- Between 18 and 65 years of age
- Valid OHIP health card
- If referred by a psychiatrist : Last Progress Note, Current Medication List, Confirmation to offer follow-up in case of crisis, Confirmation to accept the return of care must be included
- Be able to read, write and express emotions in the language of the group (French only)
- Have a sufficiently stable living situation to undertake a therapeutic process: housing, food, transport, reachable by telephone.
