Service Details
Description:
The Non-Urgent Transportation Program provides clients, who can transfer safely and independently into a vehicle, with rides to essential services (doctors appointments, dental, vision, etc.) for a reasonable cost. Priority is given to appointments of a medical nature, though sometimes other trips can be accommodated.
Drives are matched on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and according to driver availability.
All clients requesting transportation are required to undergo an intake, assessment and home visit to determine their eligibility, as well as to review the roles and responsibilities of the client, the driver and The Good Companions. Once registered, clients are asked to provide at least one week's notice of appointments.

Cost to Client:
Cost varies based on mileage. As of April 1st 2020 cost will be: From 0-10.99 kms = $12.00; From 11-20.99 kms = $14.00; From 21-49.99 kms = $19.00; From 50+ kms = $27.00.

Criteria:
- Client must be able to manage physically with minimal assistance, such as an arm for stability. Please note that a wheelchair or scooter cannot be transported.
- Agrees to a home visit assessment prior to service start.
- Seniors 55+; Adults with physical disabilities 18+.
