Counselling focuses on developing coping strategies, problem solving challenges, and processing grief.
The social worker develops a support plan for the individual, including links to programs offered by the Alzheimer Society, as well as community agencies and resources based on the individual's needs and requests.

Individualized supportive counselling is available for individuals with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias, friends and caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias.
Counselling is confidential and is offered by telephone, e-mail or in person at the Alzheimer Society office in Oxford.
