Counselling Connect

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, residents of Ottawa and the surrounding area received free same-day counselling services mainly through community walk-in services. When the Government of Ontario declared a provincial emergency on March 17, 2020, these vital in-office sessions became impossible to deliver in person. With their doors shut and a critical need for quick and easy access to counselling, 13 Ottawa health agencies came together with a solution — online. Using Caredove’s WebBuilder, counsellingconnect.org was launched. In a matter of weeks these agencies were able to offer secure public signup to free same-day or next-day phone or video counselling sessions, getting people the help they need. Children, youth, adults and families can now easily book a phone or video appointment with the service that is right for them.

This research project is a collaboration of investigators in Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta to support stronger primary care for older adults living with frailty. Effective assessment of frailty will allow older adults to remain in their homes and communities. Primary care clinicians will use the Assessment Urgency Algorithm tool, which uses a scale of one to six, to determine frailty level. This ensures a client is connected to the right type of service, at the right time.

Caredove has configured services to display results in 3 main categories:

  • Prevention & Health Promotion for scores 1 & 2
  • Community Support Services for scores 3 & 4
  • Specialized Geriatric Services for scores 5 & 6
